Update Training for Existing Reiki Masters.

Attunements to Reiki Mastership and training in this lineage could be given over a weekend. This would incorporate receiving Reiki 1, 2 & 3 attunements, instruction in the material of this lineage, and tuition in giving Reiki 1, 2 and 3 attunements. The student is required to demonstrate the attunement procedure to the initiating master. When giving this training over a weekend we assume that adequate training to mastership level has been completed. Reiki masters undertaking this 'update' training are expected to present their past material, and show their current material for Reiki training. The purpose of this is to bring a more unified or complete view of Reiki. This may result in a few changes in the way Reiki is presented to a student. Whilst we provide course notes for Reiki 1, 2 and 3, which highlights the way we teach and covers both Reiki Jin-Kei Do© and some Hayashi/Takata style teachings, it is expected that the student prepares their own teaching material and course notes as part of their own exploration of Reiki. This should be presented for our comments and discussion.

Should a Reiki Master choose not to teach or initiate from Reiki Jin-Kei Do©, and continues to teach from the Takata or other lineage, then the material of Reiki Jin-Kei Do© should not be used as a potpourri of Reiki. It must be pointed out that the attunement procedures are unsuitable for large or multiple attunement sessions. They are always given one to one, so it is unlikely that a Reiki Master who is used to teaching and attuning in large groups could comfortably give attunements and cover the relevant course material with more than 8 students in the class (per initiating master). We make this point very clear so that those present Reiki Masters who are seeking a new lineage are informed of a major change they must make should they be wishing to teach in this way with our authorisation. This training cannot be mass marketed, it is not a new marketing tool, it is a lineage of Reiki, with its roots firmly grounded in spiritual discipline and practices.

We are not claiming it is better that any other system of Reiki. We are not claiming it is Real Reiki or Authentic Reiki. All lineages of Reiki are valid and we honour all Reiki teachings. Each student chooses what feels correct for them.

We request that new masters respect and honour the tradition and discipline and not blend this living transmitted teaching with "channelled" material (whose accuracy cannot be researched or verified). To do so would dishonour the energy given. A signed commitment is made prior to commencing this training.

Outline of Training

Following intensive Training:

  • Optional Aspects of Training:
    • The attendance at Reiki 1 and 2 classes can be beneficial. Trainees will be expected to assist and support students at the classes attended
    • Some of the teachings by Reiki masters of different approaches with whom we have studied will examined. The attunement methods into these lineages will not be given. This is presented in order to broaden the understanding and viewpoint of the trainee. Course material will not be given covering this part of the course - and the individuals' own notes must suffice.
    • Book reviews and study of Reiki popular literature will be part of the course and the work will initially consist of written reports on the books suggested. This will form part of the trainee's compilation of course notes and teaching material. Quotations and sources of material by authors and other Reiki Masters, should be acknowledged and honoured.
    • The Master-Trainee will prepare a talk: "An introduction to Reiki" for the public and present it on cassette tape.
    • Present a short talk on a Reiki 1 or 2 subject.
    • Discussion/debate on relevant subjects form part of each tutorial day.

Practical training will be given in the following areas:

    Phase 1

    • Preparatory meditation.
    • Review of Reiki 1 and 2 material.
    • Review of the 3 Reiki symbols and the deeper meaning.
    • Introduction to the Master symbol and its deeper meaning.
    • Special breathing exercises.
    • Awareness of energy.
    • Introduction to Reiki 1 and 2 attunements and training.
    • Determine competency in Reiki 1 and 2 attunements.

    Phase 2

The completion of Reiki Master training can be studied within the intensive or later at the discretion of the initiating master. This covers the study of the Masters attunement, an intricate procedure which requires time to study and meditation practice to be able to give effectively. Again the attunement will be given and demonstrated by the trainee before final certification as a Reiki Master Teacher of Reiki Jin Kei Do. This completion phase has no set period.

    • Reiki Master initiation - Instruction and practice
    • Further Review of Teaching Reiki 1 and 2
    • Determine the competency in R3 attunement

N.B. The term Reiki Master is given after successfully completing Phase 1, this will be shown on the certificate, and as such the master will be authorised to teach Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 under the guidance of the initiating master. After successfully completing Phase 2, devoted to Reiki Master attunement procedures. This will concentrate on the correct application of the way in which the energy is transmitted to empower a Master. The certification then states that the title of Reiki Master Teacher is given and the ability to transmit all three stages of Reiki training is completed. It is possible for Existing Reiki Masters to complete the practical aspects of Phase 1 and 2 within one intensive Update Training. Private studies can be completed later and certification given on completion.

The above ensures that when future Reiki students apply and receive Reiki training, the empowerment given is the full energy transmission of the Eastern Reiki lineage of Takamori, and the initiate is fully empowered for life.
